“Providing positive, engaging activities and continuing to create opportunities for exploring, addressing and tackling the issues which affect young people makes this a very challenging but incredibly rewarding role.” Kevin Mullins – Youth Worker of the Year 2012, National Youth Agency UK.
This quote is something that has stuck with us at Newly for quite a while. We have primarily focused in the Aged Care and Disability space since we started, but in its essence – providing high quality carers to those who need them has dictated how we’ve done things since day one. And as we all know, the elderly and those with disabilities aren’t the only ones who require care and guidance in their lives to achieve their goals – disadvantaged and vulnerable youths do, too.
With all of this in mind, we have been working hard over the past few months to include job opportunities in Youth work to those with a passion for providing high quality care and support services. And we are now happy to say that we have achieved that, with an exciting pilot project in the Youth Work space!
For this pilot we have partnered with a leading provider of Youth Services in Bendigo to offer job opportunities to those interested in this line of work. We are inviting both qualified Youth Workers and those who see themselves as being able to offer their passion for positive outcomes, the opportunity to kick-start a career in Youth Work.
For this role, quick thinking, dealing well with diverse clientele and an ability to work with confidence in a team environment are a must, as successful applicants would be directly involved in providing a positive environment for the young people in their care, and to make a real difference in their lives.
There are some great perks with this job as well, which include: extra annual and personal leave, generous salary packaging and full support to attain your Certificate IV in Youth Work if you don’t already have the qualification.
Lastly, our recruitment process is a little different – we want to find out about our applicants as individuals and how that fits within the job, so being able to attend an Assessment Centre in Bendigo on 10th of March is very important! This will be followed by a comprehensive and paid* two day training course on the 16th and 17th of March, should the application be successful.
So if you can see yourself supporting young people at risk to live in a safe and welcoming environment, then we want to talk to you! Send your resume to info@newly.com.au, with the subject line “Youth Support Worker” and we’ll get in contact if you’re eligible!
